Gallup Reaches NCAA Automatic Standard, Warriors Crown Three Champions at PSAC Outdoor Meet
INDIANA - Senior Iuri Pinto defended his title in the 1500m and sophomores Matt Gallup (pole vault) and Drew Miller (triple jump) completed their sweep of the 2008 PSAC indoor and outdoor championships for East Stroudsburg University on the final day of the PSAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday at IUP.

INDIANA - Sophomore Trina Carito turned in a dominating performance to win the women's heptathlon and sophomore Paul Wagner broke the ESU and PSAC meet records in the men's hammer throw for the Warriors on Friday at the PSAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

BETHLEHEM - Sophomore Matt Gallup won the men's pole vault, freshman Lynn Mayer won the women's high jump and freshman Steph Weber tied the school record in the women's pole vault to lead East Stroudsburg University on Saturday at the Lehigh Games.

Men's 4x200 Relay Highlights Friday Performances at Penn Relays
PHILADELPHIA - The men's 4x200 relay team of sophomores Ed Kiser, Chris Reddick and Andrew McCloskey and freshman Greg Pammer ran the second-fastest time in East Stroudsburg University history (1:27.93) on Friday at Franklin Field in the 114th Penn Relays.

PHILADELPHIA - East Stroudsburg University freshman Lynn Mayer won the women's college eastern high jump and senior Iuri Pinto broke the school record in the 5000m at the 114th Penn Relays on Thursday at Franklin Field in Philadelphia.

WEST CHESTER - The East Stroudsburg University women's track and field team had 13 top-two finishes to win the PSAC East Challenge, held Saturday at West Chester. The Warriors men came in third, 1.5 points behind second-place Shippensburg.

Warriors Win Nine Events to Open Outdoor Season at Lynchburg Invitational
LYNCHBURG, Va. - Sophomore Rusty Smith and freshman Lynn Mayer, both coming off All-America honors at the indoor national championships last weekend, started the outdoor season with strong performances at the Lynchburg Invitational on Saturday.
Smith broke his own school record in the 110m hurdles in 14.67 seconds and finished second in the event, while Mayer won the high jump with a leap of 5-6 for one of the Warriors' nine first-place finishes.

Rusty Smith Leads Four Warriors Invited to NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships
EAST STROUDSBURG - For the first time in school history, East Stroudsburg University will send four athletes to the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships, which will be held March 14-15 at Mankato State University in Minnesota.
Sophomore Rusty Smith was an automatic qualifier in the 60m hurdles and will be joined by senior miler Iuri Pinto and two women's high jumpers, freshman Lynn Mayer and sophomore Janelle Smith.

EAST STROUDSBURG - Trina Carito and Drew Miller both won individual titles in the triple jump, the ESU men combined to set four school records on the track and finished third, and the women placed fifth as the Warriors wrapped up an outstanding weekend at the PSAC Indoor Track & Field Championships at Koehler Fieldhouse.

Three Warriors Win PSAC Indoor Championships on First Day of Action
EAST STROUDSBURG - Kenny Cardullo (pentathlon), Matt Gallup (pole vault) and Paul Wagner (weight throw) gave East Stroudsburg University three individual winners on the first day of the PSAC Indoor Track & Field Championship, held Saturday and Sunday at Koehler Fieldhouse.
Cardullo and Wagner both set school records with their performances, and Katherine Doyle, Rusty Smith, Ed Kiser and Chris Reddick all had impressive outings in the preliminaries of the sprint events.

EAST STROUDSBURG - Iuri Pinto was anything but your average college freshman when he stepped on East Stroudsburg University's campus five years ago. A native of Portugal, he didn't learn to speak English until he came to the United States as a seventh grader in South River, N.J.

EAST STROUDSBURG - IUP senior Sean Strauman, a two-time All-American and NCAA automatic qualifier in the 800m, and reigning 55m and 200m champion Jamal James of Shippensburg headline the field of athletes competing at the 2008 PSAC Indoor Track & Field Championship on Saturday and Sunday at East Stroudsburg University.
Senior Iuri Pinto, the defending champion in the mile, will lead a strong contingent from ESU that includes sprinters Andrew McCloskey, Jeff McClenton, Ed Kiser and Chris Reddick, hurdler Rusty Smith, pole vaulter Matt Gallup, jumpers Ryan Kramer and Drew Miller, thrower Paul Wagner and Kenny Cardullo and Anthony Scanella in the pentathlon.

EAST STROUDSBURG - East Stroudsburg University junior Katherine Doyle has earned the ABC Trophy, Inc. Athlete of the Week for her performance last weekend at the Lafayette-Rider Invitational. Doyle ran the anchor leg on the 4x400 relay team that reached the NCAA provisional qualifying time of 3:56.42, and also clocked ESU's best time in the 200m this season at 26.43.

NEW YORK, N.Y. - Senior Iuri Pinto qualified for the NCAA Division II Championships and was less than two seconds off the school record in the mile to lead East Stroudsburg University's top performances at the Lafayette-Rider Winter Games on Friday at The Armory in New York City.

EAST STROUDSBURG - Sophomore Rusty Smith set the school record in the 60m hurdles on Friday at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational and won the 55m hurdles at the Bucknell Winter Classic on Saturday to highlight a busy weekend for the East Stroudsburg University indoor track and field team.
Freshman Steph Weber also broke her own school record of 10-4 in the pole vault, clearing a height of 10-6 1/4 at Bucknell.

EAST STROUDSBURG - Sophomore Jeff McClenton led off for the school-record setting 4x200 relay team, won the long jump and was second in the 200m dash to highlight the 9th Annual Dick DeSchriver Invitational held on Saturday at Koehler Fieldhouse.

McClenton and Gallup Set School Records, ESU Men Second at John Covert Classic
BETHLEHEM - Jeff McClenton set the school record in the 60m dash and Matt Gallup established a new ESU standard in the pole vault as the Warriors' men's track & field team finished second at the John Covert Classic, hosted Friday and Saturday at Lehigh University. The Mountain Hawks were the only team to place ahead of ESU, which beat five Division I schools in a field of 10 teams.

LEWISBURG - Rusty Smith and Andrew McCloskey turned in record-setting performances to lead the East Stroudsburg University indoor track & field team at the Bucknell Heptagonal on Saturday at Gerhard Fieldhouse. Smith set the school record and won the 55m hurdles in 7.59, and McCloskey broke a decade-old record in the 200m dash in 22.39.

KUTZTOWN - Leslie Martin (pentathlon), Janelle Smith (high jump), Russell Smith (55m hurdles), Matthew Gallup (pole vault) and Drew Miller (triple jump) each won their events as the East Stroudsburg University indoor track & field teams both finished third at the PSAC East Challenge on Friday at Kutztown.

ESU Track & Field Opens Indoor Season at Lafayette Invitational
EASTON - The East Stroudsburg University track & field team kicked off the 2007-08 indoor season with 11 first-place finishes last weekend at the Lafayette Invitational.
Steph Weber turned in the Warriors' top performance with a school record in the pole vault. Weber cleared 10-4 to break the previous standard of 9-6 1/4, which was set by Julie Smith in 2003.
