BLOOMSBURG - Pat Luchowski and Jeff Kurz advanced to the finals of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference doubles tournament but dropped an 8-2 decision to Kutztown's Rubens Vianna and Somdeep Appineni to conclude the spring tennis season.

Luchowski and Kurz were unseeded and opened the tournament with an 8-2 win over Matt Stevenson and Andrew Pollack of West Chester. The two then upset No. 2 seed Dan Gal and Dan Phillips of Bloomsburg 8-5 before falling in Sunday's final.

Luchowski and Adam Fisher also competed in the men's singles tournament. Fisher lost to Nick Bolea of Slippery Rock 2-6, 6-4, 10-4 and Luchowski fell to Jon Crossley of Slippery Rock 6-2, 6-2.

For the women, Shana Morris and Mandie Rutt beat Andriana Nunic and Laura DeBardinis of IUP 8-6 in the first round before losing 8-4 at No. 2 seed Cori Rombach and Heather Jack of Clarion.

Rutt won her first round singles match against Amanda Zern of West Chester 6-3, 3-6, 11-9 before a losing to California's Katie Anderson 6-1, 6-1. Morris lost her first singles match to Sara Karagianis of Slippery Rock 7-6, 6-3, 7-3.

The PSAC tournament concludes the 2006 tennis season.
