BLOOMSBURG – East Stroudsburg University advanced its top three players into the round of 16 in the women’s singles draw and the men’s doubles team of Will and James Norris moved into the quarterfinals at the ITA Atlantic Regional on Saturday.

Sophomore Amanda Kaufman outlasted Melissa Torres (WV Wesleyan) for a 4-6, 7-6, 10-8 victory and juniors Jamie Ferrigno and Katie D’Ambrosia easily advanced into Sunday’s action at Bloomsburg, which was rained out and delayed until Monday. Kaufman was the only Warrior able to compete in the round of 16 due to academic schedules and fell 6-2, 6-1 to Anastassiya Zherdeva of California.

Both ESU women’s doubles teams posted a victory before they were knocked out of the tournament. D’Ambrosia and Ferrigno beat Meghan Parsons and Devin Rombach of Clarion, 8-4, before falling to Chloe Pike and Emilia Osborne of IUP, 8-3.

Kaufman and senior Marissa Tanner won against the doubles team from WV Wesleyan and were eliminated by Laurie Navarro and Nina Kowalski of California, 8-2. Norris dropped her singles match, 6-3, 6-4, to Sharavah Campbell (Clarion).

Norris and Norris beat Fabien Mevs and Stevie Michaels of Fairmont State, 9-7, in their match-up and but were forced to withdraw from the tournament due to class schedules before facing Bloomsburg’s third-seeded tandem of Nando Perez and Ricky Dove. Junior Jared Rosenberg and sophomore Seth Heller fell 8-2 in their doubles match against the Huskies’ Brandon Cummings and Seth Rybak.
