NEW HAVEN, Conn. --- Two games, two nationally ranked opponents and two wins for the East Stroudsburg University men's soccer team.

Roy Thompson scored a goal and assisted on another as the Warriors beat No. 9 Franklin Pierce College, 3-0, Sunday at the Southern Connecticut State Tournament. ESU beat No. 7 Southern Connecticut State Friday, 1-0. Both teams are ranked in the NSCAA/adidas preseason poll.

Thompson, who scored the goal Friday, banged in a free kick from 23 yards out to open the scoring 38 minutes into the game.

Joe Alcaro added to the lead in the 62nd minute with Charlie Brostowski and Roshane Ellison getting the assist.

Three minutes later, Ellison scored off a Thompson assist for an insurance goal.

ESU keeper Billy Sterner made five saves for his second shutout of the season.

The Warriors, 2-0, will open Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference play Wednesday at 4 p.m. at Kutztown.
