EAST STROUDSBURG - Five East Stroudsburg University football players have been named D2football.com All-Americans, it was announced Tuesday.
Wide receiver Evan Prall was a first team selection while Jimmy Terwilliger was the second team quarterback. Fullback Anthony Carfagno, kicker Mark Brubaker and punter Ken Parrish were honored as honorable mentions.
It has been a busy off-season for Prall, a junior from West Scranton. He has earned first-team accolades on the Associated Press Little All-America team and second-team on the Daktronics All-America team. He was also named to the third team on the CollegeSportsReport.com All-America team.
Prall set school records for receptions (88), yards (1,766) and touchdowns (23). He scored a touchdown in every game this season and has a streak of 15 straight games with a scoring reception, dating back to last year. He was second in NCAA Division II with 6.3 receptions per game and an average of 126.1 yards per game. For his career, he has 2,919 yards and 33 touchdowns.
Terwilliger has also been named to a bevy of All-America teams, in addition to winning the Harlon Hill as the Division II player of the year. He was the first-team quarterback on the Daktronics team and second team on the Associated Press Little All-American and also on CollegeSportsReport.com. Wes Beschorner of South Dakota was the first-team choice on the D2football.com team.
Terwilliger completed 262 of 424 passes this season for a school and conference record 4,571 yards and 50 touchdowns. This season, he set NCAA records for career 300-yard passing games (22), consecutive games with a touchdown pass (37), yards of career total offense (12,594), career games with 200 yards or more passing (35), season points by a quarterback (324) and career points by quarterback (744). Earlier this season, he became the seventh player in NCAA history to rush for 1,000 yards and pass for 10,000. He was second in the country with a 186.1 passing efficiency and led the country with 354.3 yards of total offense per game.
Parrish, a senior, punted just 41 times this year, not enough to qualify to be among the NCAA leaders. He averaged 43 yards per kick with a long of 62 yards. He pinned 10 of those kicks inside the opponents' 20-yard line. He was the second-team punter on the Daktronics All-America team. He was a D2football.com first-team selection last season.
Carfagno, a senior fullback from Phoenixville, earned his second All-America selection. He was the third-team running back on the CollegeSportsReport.com team. Carfagno will leave for Texas after Christmas to participate in the Cactus Bowl, a Division II showcase. Carfagno scored 23 times this season, a new ESU record. He rushed 98 times for 613 yards and 14 touchdowns and caught 53 passes for 684 yards and nine touchdowns. For his career, he has an ESU and Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference record 86 touchdowns, including 40 on the ground, an ESU record.
Brubaker, a senior kicker, earned his first All-America selection. He converted 74 of 79 extra points this season and made 14 of 19 field goals. He kicked the game-winning field goal against Edinboro and made a field goal as time expired to force overtime in the regular season game against Bloomsburg. His career-long was a 48-yard field goal against C.W. Post in the NCAA Division II Northeast Regional finals.
