December 12, 2006

EAST STROUDSBURG - East Stroudsburg University senior wide receiver Evan Prall (Scranton/West Scranton) has achieved a rare double-double. Prall was named a second-team wide receiver and second-team all-purpose back on the 2006 Daktronics Division II All-America teams, it was announced Tuesday.

Prall was the only player from ESU named to either the first or second teams. Voting was done by sports information directors nationwide.

Prall caught 76 passes in his senior season for 1,174 yards and 14 touchdowns. He also returned 14 kickoffs for 260 yards and 20 punts for 357 yards and two touchdowns. For his career, he set PSAC records for career yards (4,093) and touchdowns (50) and ESU records for career receptions, touchdowns and all-purpose yards. As a junior, Prall was also a second-team selection.

Grand Valley State, which is playing for a national title this weekend, had six players on the first team including wide receiver Eric Fowler and quarterback Cullen Finnerty. Northwest Missouri State, which is playing in the final Saturday, had three players chosen.

There are six players from the 2005 Daktronics, Inc., Division II All-America team and two from the 2004 team that repeated in 2006. In addition to Germaine Race, Mike McFadden and Dan Peters, Prall was a second-team selection at receiver and Anthony Merritt was a second-teamer at all-purpose last season. South Dakota running back Stefan Logan was second-team running back in 2005 as well. Danny Woodhead was a second-team selection at running back as a freshman in 2004. In all 51 players were selected (a tie at second-team offensive line) with 26 of them seniors, 19 juniors, and five sophomores and one redshirt freshman.
