EAST STROUDSBURG – Senior quarterback Trevor Harris was 28-for-39 for 298 yards and three touchdowns and cornerback Branden Williams had a blocked field goal and 61-yard return for a touchdown on the final play of the first half as Edinboro defeated East Stroudsburg, 31-16, in the first round of the NCAA Division II Football Championship on Saturday afternoon at Eiler-Martin Stadium.
EAST STROUDSBURG – Two of the top offenses and quarterbacks in the region will square off when East Stroudsburg University hosts Edinboro in the first round of the NCAA Division II Playoffs on Saturday at Eiler-Martin Stadium. Kickoff is set for 12 p.m.
Ticket prices are $10 for general admission, $15 for chairback seating and $5 for ESU students, children under 11 and adults over 65. Parking in the lots adjacent to Eiler-Martin Stadium is $5. Gates open at 10:30 a.m.
EAST STROUDSBURG – East Stroudsburg University earned a spot in the NCAA Division II Football Championship field and will play Edinboro at Eiler-Martin Stadium on Saturday, November 14 at 12 p.m., the eight-member NCAA Division II Football Committee announced on Sunday.
EAST STROUDSBURG – East Stroudsburg University redshirt junior cornerback Shawnte Carroll has been named the PSAC East Defensive Player of the Week after setting a school record for interceptions in a game, tying an NCAA Division II record for interceptions in a quarter and returning two for touchdowns in the Warriors’ 54-28 win over Slippery Rock on Saturday.
EAST STROUDSBURG – East Stroudsburg University scored on three of its first five offensive plays, the defense returned three interceptions for touchdowns and redshirt sophomore cornerback Shawnte Carroll set a school record with four interceptions, including two for scores, as the Warriors beat Slippery Rock 54-28 and moved closer to securing an NCAA Division II playoff berth on Saturday afternoon at Eiler-Martin Stadium.
EAST STROUDSBURG – East Stroudsburg University redshirt junior outside linebacker Matt Freed has been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District II football first team for the second straight year, while redshirt sophomore offensive lineman Zach Sarginger was named to the second team in his first year of eligibility, it was announced on Thursday.
THE MATCH-UP: The Warriors host Slippery Rock, the alma mater of head coach Denny Douds (class of 1963), in the final game of the 2009 regular season with an opportunity to strengthen their case for an NCAA Division II Playoff bid. A win would also give ESU eight victories for the 12th time in 36 years under Douds, and the 16th time in school history.
EAST STROUDSBURG – Freshmen Eric Deery and Kendrick Williams combined to run for 198 yards, redshirt junior quarterback Matt Marshall threw three touchdown passes and East Stroudsburg University held Millersville to a field goal on the final play of the first half in a 44-3 victory on Saturday at Eiler-Martin Stadium.
THE MATCH-UP: ESU faces longtime PSAC East rival Millersville on the last day of October at Eiler-Martin Stadium. The Warriors are coming off a 42-24 loss to C.W. Post, while Millersville posted a 41-35 victory in double overtime against a Kutztown team that ESU knocked off in overtime, 27-20, the previous week.
EAST STROUDSBURG – Tailback Thomas Beverly and quarterback Eric Anderwkavich powered the PSAC’s top rushing offense and Anderwkavich threw for 232 yards and three touchdowns as C.W. Post earned a 42-24 win at East Stroudsburg University in PSAC East football on Saturday at Eiler-Martin Stadium.
THE MATCH-UP: The PSAC’s first- and second-ranked offenses square off in a series that has produced shootouts in nearly every meeting. ESU leads the conference with 406.8 yards of total offense per game and is coming off its best performance of the season, a 562-yard output in a 27-20 (OT) win at Kutztown last Saturday. The Warriors also lead the PSAC in passing offense (279.1 yards per game) and pass efficiency (159.6 rating). C.W. Post gained 328 of its 410 yards on the ground in a 35-3 win at Millersville last week, leads the PSAC with 225.6 rushing yards per game and ranks second in total offense (403.2 ypg).
EAST STROUDSBURG – Wide receiver Ed Kiser has been named the Championship Award Guys Athlete of the Week at East Stroudsburg University for his performance in the Warriors’ 27-20 overtime win at Kutztown on Saturday.
EAST STROUDSBURG – Quarterback Matt Marshall and outside linebacker Matt Freed have both been named the PSAC East Football Players of the Week for the fourth time in their careers for their performances in East Stroudsburg University’s 27-20 overtime win at Kutztown on Saturday.
KUTZTOWN – Redshirt junior quarterback Matt Marshall threw for 430 yards and hit redshirt junior Ed Kiser for the go-ahead touchdown in overtime after Kutztown’s game-tying drive and missed extra point at the end of regulation, and East Stroudsburg University stopped KU quarterback Kevin Morton at the one-yard line on fourth down on the Golden Bears’ overtime possession as the Warriors pulled out a 27-20 victory on Saturday afternoon.
THE MATCH-UP: ESU travels to Kutztown for its annual PSAC East match-up with the Golden Bears. The Warriors are coming off a 27-13 loss to Bloomsburg, while the Golden Bears fell 26-22 at Shippensburg last Saturday. ESU has played five of its first seven games on the road and will be back at home for its final three games following this weekend’s contest.
EAST STROUDSBURG – Derrick Price ran for 165 yards and a touchdown and Kenny Domzalski put the game away with a 28-yard touchdown run with 4:15 remaining as No. 5 Bloomsburg defeated East Stroudsburg University, 27-13, on Saturday afternoon at Eiler-Martin Stadium.

EAST STROUDSBURG – Quarterback Matt Marshall has been named the Championship Award Guys Athlete of the Week at East Stroudsburg University after leading the Warriors’ 13-point second half comeback in a 21-20 victory at West Chester on Saturday.
THE MATCH-UP: ESU hosts Bloomsburg on Homecoming Weekend at Eiler-Martin Stadium. The Warriors enter with a 5-1 record (2-1 PSAC East) after earning a 21-20 win at West Chester last Saturday, while the Huskies are the lone remaining unbeaten team in the PSAC with a perfect 6-0 mark (3-0 PSAC East).
EAST STROUDSBURG – Redshirt senior defensive tackle Keith Galinsky has been named the PSAC East Defensive Player of the Week for his contributions in East Stroudsburg University’s 21-20 win at West Chester on Saturday.
WEST CHESTER – Redshirt junior quarterback Matt Marshall hit redshirt freshman Jordan Hallman with a five-yard pass for the go-ahead touchdown with 6:50 left and the East Stroudsburg University defense forced two key turnovers in the fourth quarter as the Warriors ended a six-game losing streak against West Chester with a 21-20 victory on Saturday afternoon at Farrell Stadium. THE MATCH-UP: ESU travels to Farrell Stadium for the 74th meeting between the Warriors and the Golden Rams. The Warriors are coming off a 37-0 win at Cheyney on Saturday, while West Chester improved to 2-0 in the PSAC East with a 37-17 win over Kutztown. Both schools are looking for a signature win in the PSAC East and NCAA Division II Super Region 1 (formerly Northeast Region) standings.
CHEYNEY – Freshman tailback Eric Deery ran for 121 yards, redshirt freshman Justin Lee had 58 rushing yards and two touchdowns and redshirt senior wide receiver Sam Shuman caught a pair of touchdown passes to lead East Stroudsburg University to a 37-0 win at Cheyney on Saturday afternoon at O’Shields-Stevenson Stadium.
EAST STROUDSBURG – The East Stroudsburg University football program will play on state-wide television twice during the 2009 season when the Warriors host Bloomsburg on October 10 at 2:30 p.m. and Millersville on October 31 at 1 p.m. at Eiler-Martin Stadium.
THE MATCH-UP: The Warriors look to rebound from a 38-14 loss at Shippensburg in last week’s PSAC East opener with a trip to Cheyney on Saturday. The Wolves are 0-4 and dropped their conference opener 51-0 at C.W. Post last weekend. ESU has won the last 29 games in the series, an NCAA Division II record.
SHIPPENSBURG – Mike Harris caught five passes for 145 yards and two touchdowns and Shippensburg’s defense limited East Stroudsburg University to 250 yards and had seven sacks in a 38-14 win over the Warriors in the PSAC East opener on Saturday afternoon at Seth Grove Stadium.

Sept. 15 ESU Football Game Notes vs. Shippensburg THE MATCH-UP: ESU opens its PSAC East schedule with a trip to Shippensburg’s Seth Grove Stadium in a rematch of the Warriors’ 44-41 (OT) win at Eiler-Martin Stadium last season. The Warriors are off to their sixth 3-0 start since the 2000 season, while the Red Raiders are 2-1, including a 24-14 upset at then-No. 15 Edinboro two weeks ago. Shippensburg was 3-4 in its first season in the PSAC East a year ago and 4-7 overall, with three losses coming by four points or less.

Sept. 7 ESU Football Game Notes vs. Clarion THE MATCH-UP: The Warriors host Clarion in their home opener at Eiler-Martin Stadium. ESU traveled 1,404 miles round-trip in the first two weeks of the season, picking up wins in Richmond (Virginia Union, 19-6) and Erie (Gannon, 38-21), and will be back on the road the next three weeks following tonight’s game. Clarion enters with a 1-1 record, winning its season opener 33-21 at Fairmont State and falling to Kutztown 25-6 last weekend.

August 31 ESU Football Game Notes at Gannon THE MATCH-UP: The Warriors make their second-longest road trip of the year during the second week of the season when they travel to Erie to take on Gannon in a PSAC crossover game. ESU won its season opener 19-6 at Virginia Union in Richmond last Thursday, while Gannon came back from a 13-point deficit in the fourth quarter for a 35-34 win over Lake Erie.
RICHMOND, Va. - Redshirt junior tailback Zach Krise ran 26 times for 107 yards and a pair of two-yard touchdowns as East Stroudsburg University won its 2009 season opener 19-6 at Virginia Union on Thursday night at Hovey Field.
EAST STROUDSBURG - Ken Parrish, a two-time All-American punter at East Stroudsburg University, made his 2009 preseason debut for the New York Jets on ESPN's Monday Night Football in a 24-23 loss at Baltimore.
THE MATCH-UP: East Stroudsburg University opens the 2009 season at Virginia Union in a rematch of last year's season opener in which the Warriors upended the No. 25-ranked Panthers 14-11 at Eiler-Martin Stadium. The win was the first step in a 9-2 season for ESU, the eighth 9-win season in school history and the seventh under head coach Denny Douds, the PSAC record-holder with 218 career victories entering his 36th season.

EAST STROUDSBURG - East Stroudsburg University has been picked to finish third in the PSAC East in the 2009 season according to a poll of the division's coaches, it was announced Monday at the PSAC East football media day at Kutztown.
EAST STROUDSBURG - Chuck Seese, the radio voice of the East Stroudsburg University football program for the past 20 years, received the George Heaslip Media Award from the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) at the conference's football media day on Monday at Kutztown.
The Warriors return nine starters, four on offense and five on defense, from last year's team that went 9-2. Wide receivers Jeff Giglio and Sam Shuman return to catch passes from quarterback Matt Marshall, who started two games last season, and preseason All-American Morgan Thomas is a three-year starter on the offensive line.
On defense, the Warriors will be led by All-American linebacker Matt Freed, defensive ends Jeff Case and Matthew Faas, cornerback David Castillo and safeties Nicholas Artinger and Mike Gnall.
