EAST STROUDSBURG - East Stroudsburg University quarterback Matt Marshall has been named the PSAC East Offensive Player of the Week following his 258-yard, two touchdown effort in the Warriors' 45-18 win at Millersville on Saturday.

Marshall (York/Spring Grove), a redshirt sophomore, entered the game midway through the second quarter in relief of starter Tim Roken, who left due to injury. Roken threw for 150 yards and two touchdowns, including a 96-yard pass to Ed Kiser for the second-longest pass play in school history, and Marshall picked up where he left off.

The Warriors threw for 424 yards in the game and Marshall, Roken and wide receiver Sam Shuman all had touchdown passes. Marshall was 11-for-19 and hit redshirt sophomore Jeff Giglio for a pair of scores in the fourth quarter, covering 34 and 86 yards, to put the game away.

He threw two interceptions, but atoned for the second by ripping the ball away from defensive lineman Chad Miller and returning it 35 yards to set up a touchdown that gave ESU a 21-3 halftime lead.

Marshall was 17-for-26 for 314 yards and three touchdowns in his first career start earlier this season against Cheyney and has thrown for nearly 600 yards and five touchdowns in less than seven quarters as a college quarterback. Two of his touchdown passes in the Cheyney game also went to Giglio (36 and 39 yards), who leads the Warriors' receivers with nine touchdowns this season.

ESU leads the PSAC in passing offense with 288.2 yards per game and is tied for second with 24 passing touchdowns this season.

Marshall is the second ESU quarterback to be honored by the PSAC this year, following Roken's 420 yard, five TD day at Clarion. Redshirt senior wide receiver Doug Ogden was last week's player of the week with eight catches for 194 yards and a touchdown at C.W. Post.

Marshall is also the second straight Warrior to claim conference honors in limited action. Redshirt sophomore outside linebacker Matt Freed earned last week's defensive award with 10 tackles, a sack and forced fumble, and a 30-yard interception return for a TD in less than a half of play at C.W. Post.
