D2Football.com All-America Team
EAST STROUDSBURG - East Stroudsburg University senior punter Nick Krut has been named to the 2008 D2Football.com and Football Gazette All-America first teams.
Krut (Clarks Summit/Abington Heights) led Division II in punting with a 46.0-yard average which ranked second across all divisions of college football. ESU's net average of 39.7 yards was also the best in Division II, and Krut set ESU's single-season and career records for punting average.
Krut has been named a first team All-American by four national organizations. He was also named to the Associated Press Little All-America team and the Daktronics Division II All-America team for his spectacular play during the 2008 season.
Along with senior defensive back Lionel Mitchell, Krut participated in the 2009 Valero Cactus Bowl, Division II's senior all-star football game, on January 9 at Texas A&M-Kingsville's Javelina Stadium.
Krut is the fifth ESU player to be named a first team All-America by D2Football.com. Others were guard Jim Sodano and punter Adam Hostetter (2001), punter Ken Parrish (2004) and wide receiver Evan Prall (2005).
The D2Football.com All-America Team was selected by the staff of D2Football.com with input from coaches and sports information directors from around the country. D2Football.com has named an All-America Team since its inception in 2000.
