EAST STROUDSBURG - East Stroudsburg University senior punter Nick Krut was named to the Associated Press Little All-America first team and redshirt sophomore outside linebacker Matt Freed was selected to the third team, it was announced Thursday afternoon.

Krut (Clarks Summit/Abington Heights) led Division II in punting with a 46.0-yard average which ranked second across all divisions of college football. ESU's net average of 39.7 yards was also the best in Division II, and Krut set ESU's single-season and career records for punting average.

Freed (Souderton/Souderton) was tied for fifth in Division II with 11.5 tackles per game and is one of only two sophomores out of the 75 players on the first, second or third team. He had 126 tackles, 11.0 tackles for a loss, four sacks and four interceptions for the Warriors, who finished with a 9-2 record. Freed was also selected to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District II team this year.

Earlier this month, Krut and Freed were both named to the Daktronics Division II All-America first team, which is voted on by the division's sports information directors.

The Little All-America team is comprised of the top players in Division II, III and NAIA football. Krut and Freed give ESU 20 AP All-Americans in school history, and Krut is the eighth Warrior to be named to the first team.

The previous first team All-Americans were Evan Prall (2006 All-Purpose, 2005 WR), Matt Crispell (2004 DB), Kevin Nagle (2000 LB), Steve Hynes (1994 OL), Curtis Bunch (1991 DB), Mike Reichenbach (1983 LB) and Barry Roach (1965 HB).

ESU has had multiple AP Little All-Americans in four of the past eight years. Prall was joined by quarterback Jimmy Terwilliger in 2005 and 2006, and offensive lineman Jim Sodano and punter Adam Hostetter were mentioned in 2001.
