EAST STROUDSBURG - East Stroudsburg University will hold its annual spring football game on Saturday, April 19 at 6:30 p.m. at Eiler-Martin Stadium.

The Warriors went 3-6 last season, their first without a winning record since 1999, but return seven starters on offense and eight on defense in 2008.

The returners are led by quarterback Tim Roken (1,765 passing yards, 15 TDs) and tailback Joe Partridge (698 rushing yards, 7 TDs). Roken's top five receivers also return, including Jon Clouse, Doug Ogden, Sam Shuman and Drew Stem, along with offensive linemen Matthew Keller and Morgan Thomas.

The defense will be anchored by outside linebackers David Pacchioini and Steve Van Alstine and four returning starters on the defense line in ends Dave Iobst and Matt Faas and tackles Miguel Rivera and Jeff Shrive. Safety Mike Gnall and cornerbacks Nick Artinger and David Castillo return in the secondary.

Kicker Greg Knauss and punter Nick Krut were first team All-PSAC East selections last season and return in 2008. Knauss set two school records, with a 53-yard field goal vs. IUP and five field goals in a game at West Chester, and Krut was second in the conference with a 40.7-yard average.

ESU expects to be able to announce its 2008 schedule within the next two weeks.
