EAST STROUDSBURG - Nineteen student-athletes from East Stroudsburg University were recognized as Academic All-Americans by their respective sports.
Thirteen members of the East Stroudsburg University field hockey team were named to the 2006 National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) National Academic Squad, released at the end of their season.
Seniors Crystal Condran (Hummelstown/Hershey), Erin Due (Pen Argyl/Pen Argyl), Jackie Hanebury (Fort Washington/Upper Dublin), Jenni Hyman (Ephrata/Ephrata), Ashley Kocis (Buckingham/Central Bucks East), Katie Ord (Palmerton/Palmerton), and Cara Senese (East Stroudsburg/East Stroudsburg South) joined juniors Karleigh Bowen (Forty Fort/Wyoming Valley West) and Sarah Cordora (Swoyersville/Wyoming Valley West) on the list.
Freshmen Sara Clements (Lehighton/Palmerton), Michele Pavesi (Hammonton, N.J./Hammonton), and Caitlyn Waechter also made the necessary grades after their first semester on campus.
The Warriors finished the season 13-7 overall (7-7 PSAC).
Six members of the ESU cross country team were also honored by earning an Academic All-American status.
For the women, seniors Jess Chong (Livingston, N.J./Livingston) and Tiff Sauber (Womelsdorf/Tulpenhocken) along with junior Amanda Bradbury (Easton/Pen Argyl) earned the grades.
On the men's side, seniors Matt Collins (Ramsey, N.J./Ramsey), Jon Holland (Cresco/Pocono Mountain), and Drew Nesbitt (East Petersburg/Hempfield) because part of the 2006 squad.
In the fall, the men placed fourth at regions while the women took the tenth spot.
To be a member of the squad, a student-athlete must have achieved a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.3 through the fall semester of the 2006-07 academic year.
