EAST STROUDSBURG – Freshman Rose Mascoli has been named the Championship Award Guys Athlete of the Week at East Stroudsburg University after leading the Warriors women’s cross country team to the 4K team championship at the Mountaineer Invitational on Saturday at Mansfield.

Mascoli (Lebanon/Lebanon Catholic) ran a time of 14:15.3 to finish third in a field of 55 runners to help ESU edge Shippensburg by a 36-39 score in the field of six teams. She was followed by senior Niki Pasquarella, sophomore Jonna Trexler and freshman Corinna Fitzgerald to give the Warriors four of the top seven places.

Mascoli finished behind Shippensburg All-American Neely Spence, the Division II runner-up last year, and Abby Huber. She was two seconds faster than Bloomsburg’s Andrea Kellock, who was eighth at the PSAC Championships a year ago.

ESU returns to action next weekend at the Don Cathcart Invitational at Salisbury State (Md.)., and will run again at Mansfield at the NCAA Regional on November 7.
