SLIPPERY ROCK - Freshman Doug Jankowski led a tight pack with a time of 33:51 to place 38th as the East Stroudsburg University men's cross country team finished eighth in the NCAA East Region on Saturday at Cooper's Lake.

Jankowski paced a squad that had a spread of 39 seconds from its first through fifth runners, and ESU's top five were all among the top 52 in the region. The Warriors' spread was the closest of the 25 schools competing in the regional.

Juniors Pat Carr and Ryan Doyle were 41st and 44th, freshman Greg Laraia was 46th and sophomore Chris Zadroga placed 52nd for the Warriors.

Junior Niki Pasquarella was 48th and freshmen Jonna Trexler and Brooke Dunphy were also in the top 100 as ESU placed 17th in the women's race.
