SALISBURY, Md. - Senior Iuri Pinto set the ESU men's school record at Winter Place Park and finished second overall to lead the Warriors cross country team at the Don Cathcart Invitational.
Pinto covered the 8k course in 25:08 to break the ESU record at the meet, which was previously known as the Tidewater Fall Classic.
The ESU women placed second out of 12 schools and the men were third out of 13 schools in the field.
Sophomore Niki Pasquarella was the top finisher for the women, placing fifth in a field of 103 runners. Pasquarella ran the 6k course in 22:20, good for the second-fastest time by an ESU woman on the course.
Lori Johanson (22:56) and Amber Horn (22:57) were 12th and 13th for ESU. Amanda Bradbury was 19th and Clarissa Cooblall and Amy Moratz both finished with the same time to round out the top five for the Warriors.
Freshman Doug Weeks turned in the second-fastest time for ESU men, placing 15th in 26:14. Chris Zadroga, Ryan Doyle and Matt Cook also scored for the Warriors.
