EAST STROUDSBURG - East Stroudsburg University senior Iuri Pinto has been named the PSAC Cross Country Male Athlete of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.

Pinto (Plainsboro, N.J./South River) placed fourth out of 239 runners at the NYU Invitational, held at Van Cortland Park in New York City on Saturday. He finished 19 seconds behind the winner and 24 seconds ahead of his nearest PSAC competitor.

Pinto was eighth at the PSAC cross country championships and 10th in the Northeast Region a year ago. He has already qualified for the NCAA Championships in outdoor track and field in the 1500 and the 10,000 during his career at ESU, and owns five PSAC championships.

He placed third in the Lehigh Valley Invite a week ago and will return to action on Saturday, Sept. 29 at the Tidewater Fall Classic in Salisbury, Md.
