NEW YORK, N.Y. - Senior Iuri Pinto placed fourth for the men and sophomore Niki Pasquarella was seventh for the women to pace East Stroudsburg University at the NYU Cross Country Invitational on Saturday at Van Cortland Park.
Pinto followed up last week's third-place finish at the Lehigh Valley Invite by placing fourth in a field of 239 runners at Van Cortland Park. He finished the five-mile course in 26:04, just 19 seconds behind the winner Evans Kigen of NYIT.
The Warriors men were sixth out of 23 teams, as Ryan Doyle (28th), Chris Zadroga (34th), James Norley (58th) and Dan Bowden (73rd) also scored. Matthew Cook and Jeff Buck finished in the top 100 as well.
Pasquarella's performance led a strong effort from the ESU women, which placed fourth among the 22 teams and 209 runners competing. Amber Horn was 17th and Amanda Bradbury placed 21st, while Lori Johanson was 30th. Clarissa Cooblall, Krinstine Goemaat and Amy Moratz crossed the line within seven seconds of each other to give ESU seven of the top 50 runners.
