EASTON - Senior Iuri Pinto set the course record for an ESU men's runner on Saturday at the Lafayette Invitational to help the Warriors finish first among Division II competition at the Metzgar Fields Athletic Complex.
Pinto finished ninth of 141 runners and recorded the top time in the 32 years that ESU has competed in the event, with a time of 25:48.8 on the 8k course. Pinto was the top Division II finisher, with Kutztown's Pat Bone crossing the line more than a minute later.
The ESU men were seventh of 12 teams competing and beat Kutztown, ranked No. 7 in the region, 199-225.
Sophomore Ryan Doyle placed 30th in 27:00 and was followed by three freshmen who rounded out the top five for the Warriors - Chris Zadroga (49th), Matt Cook (64th) and Evan Daney (81st).
Sophomore Niki Pasquarella was 40th for the ESU women, who were ninth of 11 schools. Pasquarella ran the 6k course in 22:27, and junior Amanda Bradbury also broke 23 minutes (22:49) and finished 52nd of 122 competitors.
ESU will host the Pete Nevins Invitational next Saturday beginning at 10 a.m.
