LOCK HAVEN - The East Stroudsburg University men's and women's cross country teams both placed ninth at the NCAA East Regional, held Saturday at Lock Haven.

Senior Iuri Pinto was the top finisher for the ESU men, placing 18th in 32:07. Pinto ran the top time in his career on the course at Lock Haven, and will turn his attention to the indoor track & field season, where he is the defending PSAC champion in the mile and has also run on three straight distance medley relay championship teams.

Pinto was followed by sophomore Ryan Doyle, who was 39th and moved up 13 spots from his finish as a freshman. Freshmen Chris Zadroga (63rd), Matt Cook (67th), Evan Daney (89th) and Doug Weeks (97th) were all running in their first NCAA regional, and senior Matt Frable was 104th.

ESU placed four runners among the top 50 in the women's race - sophomore Niki Pasquarella (40th) and seniors Amanda Bradbury (46th), Lori Johanson (49th) and Amber Horn (50th).

Sophomore Clarissa Cooblall was 65th, freshman Amy Moratz was 81st, and sophomore Rachel Ostroski placed 111th for the Warriors.
