EAST STROUDSBURG - Three members of the East Stroudsburg University men's and women's basketball team and women's coach Juliene Simpson were all honored when the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference released its Eastern Division All-Star teams on Wednesday.

Maryellen Onofre (Athens/Athens) and Danny Hargrove (Allentown/Faith Christian) were named to their respective first teams in the Eastern Division while Jackie Yandrisevits (Wind Gap/Nazareth) was named the Rookie of the Year in the East and to the second team. In addition, Simpson was named the East Women's Coach of the Year.

The ESU women finished the regular season 9-3 in conference play, winning its final two games on last-second shots to win the PSAC Eastern Division regular season title. The Warriors were picked to finish seventh in a preseason vote of league coaches and became the first team to be chosen last to win the conference.

Onofre, a junior guard, is one of six players on the first team while Yandrisevits became the first player in 11 years to be named Rookie of the Year. It was the first Coach of the Year Award for Simpson. Hargrove, a senior guard, made the first team for the first time and was one of six selections on the men's first team.

Onofre earned All-PSAC recognition for the first time in her career. She was second on the team with 12.5 points per game. She scored game-winning baskets to beat both Kutztown and Mansfield and helped the Warriors secure the regular season title. Onofre led the team with 63 three-pointers and had a team-high 71 assists.

Yandrisevits was named the PSAC Eastern Division Rookie of the Week three times during the regular season. She averaged a team-best 13.5 points per game and was the first player from ESU to be named Rookie of the Year since Jill Bittner earned the honor in win 1995. Yandrisevits made 12 three-pointers, averaged six rebounds per game and had 45 assists and 37 steals.

Simpson, who just completed her fifth year, was honored as the Coach of the Year for the first time.

"I share this award with my assistant coaches, Diane Decker and Jason Taylor because without the assistant coaching change, our season success would not have happened," Simpson said. "I also share this award with my present and former ESU student-athletes. It is because of their belief in themselves and each other that I have received this award. And, I share this award with my husband Mike and daughters Jennifer and Shannon who 365 days a year, seven days a week, 24 hours a day are supporting and believing in me."

The ESU men finished tied for second in the PSAC East with a 7-5 record and concluded the season 16-12 overall

Hargrove, one of two seniors on the team, led the team with 16.2 points per game and made 45 three-pointers, second on the team. Hargrove had 42 steals and 57 assists and was named all-conference for the first time.
