EAST STROUDSBURG - East Stroudsburg University erased a 16-point second half deficit to defeat Kutztown University, 74-72, Friday night in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference eastern division match-up.
Darron Bradley scored 18 points to lead the Warriors. Ronald Louis and Josh Wentz each scored 12 a piece.
Stephen Dennis scored 21 points. Dave Ben added 15 and Sean McKeon scored 10.
Kutztown led 61-45 early in the second half, and still led 70-60 with 8:50 to play. Kutztown would score just two more points the rest of the way, as the Warriors chipped away at the lead.
ESU pulled within one, 70-69, on a lay-up by Louis with 2:37 to play.
McKeon answered with Kutztown's only bucket down the stretch. ESU tied it on a lay-up by Bradley with 1:27 left and took the lead on two free throws by Bradley with 48 seconds remaining.
Dennis missed a jumper with 14 seconds left and Wentz got the rebound and was fouled. He hit 1-of-2 for the 74-72 lead. McKeon's three pointer missed the mark, and Dennis tip in attempt at the buzzer missed the mark.
The Warriors improve to 18-9, 6-6 and Kutztown drops to 17-10, 6-6. Depending on PSAC games held tomorrow, ESU will not know whether they will be the number two or four spot in the playoffs. For ESU to be number two the following scenarios must occur: Mansfield and West Chester win, Mansfield and Millersville win, or Bloomsburg and West Chester. If Bloomsburg and Millersville win, ESU will be number four.
