EAST STROUDSBURG -- East Stroudsburg University junior forward Josh Wentz was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Eastern Division Player of the Week after leading the Warriors to a pair of wins against teams from the Western Division.
Wentz (Bethlehem/Freedom) averaged 17.5 points per game after shooting 77.8% (14-18), including seven of eight three-point attempts in road wins against Edinboro and Slippery Rock. Wentz had 14 points and seven rebounds to help snap a seven-game losing streak to Edinboro and scored a career-high 21 points, grabbed six rebounds and had three assists against Slippery Rock.
Wentz is the second ESU player to earn the weekly honor from the PSAC. Forward Channon Easley won in November.
ESU is now 7-2 overall and will play again Wednesday, Jan. 3 at Philadelphia University of the Sciences. Tip off is at 8 p.m.
