EAST STROUDSBURG - East Stroudsburg University head men's basketball coach Jeff Wilson would like to thank all of the parents, students and supporters of the Warriors who traveled to Cheyney for the PSAC quarterfinal game on Tuesday night.
"The excitement that our crowd provided at Cheyney was a great display of school spirit, and the young men in my program applaud the efforts of everybody that came out to support us," Wilson said.
"I believe that people make the difference in the quality of experience that our student-athletes enjoy at ESU. The support that they received in an outstanding environment for college basketball had a huge impact on our players and we are very grateful."
The ESU athletic department sponsored two buses that made the trip to Cheyney that were chaperoned by Patricia Graham of the Intercultural Studies department and Andrea McClanahan from Communication Studies.
ESU head football coach Denny Douds made arrangements to allow approximately 40 of his players to travel and support their fellow student-athletes.
Cheyney won the game 71-69 to advance to the semifinals, while ESU's season ends at 18-10 for the second straight season, the most wins for the program since going 21-7 in 1991-92. The Warriors were making their third straight playoff appearance for the first time since the 1989-90, 90-91 and 91-92 seasons.
