EAST STROUDSBURG - Andy Heimbach and Kristen Murray represent East Stroudsburg University on the Lehigh Valley Small College Basketball Team of the Month for December, it was announced on Tuesday at a luncheon at Starter's Restaurant in Bethlehem.

Heimbach (Allentown/Central Catholic) and Murray (Harrisburg/Trinity) were the MVP's of their respective divisions in the 43rd Annual ESU Basketball Tournament held last weekend at Koehler Fieldhouse, and were honored by the PSAC with weekly awards on Monday.

Heimbach, a sophomore guard, was the PSAC East Athlete of the Week after averaging 21.0 points per game in the tournament. He scored 23 points and was 7-of-7 from the three-point line and 8-of-8 from the field in ESU's 89-55 win over Queens in the championship game, and is ESU's leading scorer with 16.4 points per game this season.

Murray was named the PSAC East Rookie of the Week for the second straight week. The freshman guard leads the Warriors in scoring (13.7 ppg) and assists (20), and ranks second with 13 steals. Murray has two games with at least 15 points, five rebounds and five assists, including a career-high 20 points as ESU beat Seton Hill 65-64 last Friday.

The Warriors have off this week for final exams and will return to action with a pair of home games on Tuesday and Wednesday next week, hosting Edinboro and Slippery Rock at 6 and 8 p.m. at Koehler Fieldhouse.

The Lehigh Valley Small College Basketball organization was founded by former ESU Sports Information Director Pete Nevins in 1994-95. The player of the year award was renamed in Nevins' memory after he passed away last January, and ESU's Alyssa Antolick was the first recipient of the women's award last season.
