EAST STROUDSBURG - Sophomore guard Andy Heimbach, the MVP of the 43rd Annual ESU Basketball Tournament, has been named the PSAC East Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week.

Heimbach (Allentown/Central Catholic) had one of the top shooting performances in PSAC history in ESU's 89-55 win over Queens in the championship game on Saturday night, going 7-of-7 from three-point range and 8-of-8 from the field on his way to a game-high 23 points.

Heimbach is just the third PSAC player to make at least seven three-pointers without a miss since the three-point line was introduced 21 years ago. He is the first ESU player to make seven three-pointers in a game twice in his career, after a 7-of-9 performance against Holy Family in the season opener.

He also added 19 points and a career-high five steals as ESU beat Wilberforce 85-48 in the first round of the tournament on Friday night.

Heimbach leads the Warriors with 16.4 points per game this season. He is 28-of-51 from three-point range and ranks first in the PSAC in three-point percentage (54.9) and second in three-point field goals per game (4.0).

The Warriors will take a four-game winning streak into their next game on Tuesday, Dec. 18 vs. Edinboro. The women's game will tip-off at 6 p.m., with the men to follow at 8 p.m.
