EAST STROUDSBURG – The East Stroudsburg University baseball program held a scout day on Monday afternoon with scouts from 12 Major League Baseball teams and one from the MLB scouting bureau in attendance at Mitterling Field.

The Warriors showcased their talents in opening up their six-week fall practice schedule as head coach John Kochmansky and assistant coaches Bob Shebelsky and Kevin Woodbridge put their players through a traditional pro-style workout. Pitchers threw 12-15 pitches and offensive players ran the 60-yard dash, took infield and outfield and batting practice.

“This is the first time that we were asked to hold a scout day and I was really pleased with the turnout,” Kochmansky said. “Our players put on a worthy show and didn’t disappoint. This was a great start to our fall season which will conclude with the Red and Black series in October.”

ESU is coming off a 32-22 season in 2009, setting the school record for wins, and had six players selected to the All-PSAC East team. Pitcher Jeremy Gigliotti, third baseman Mark Angelo and outfielders Mike Bortz and Kevin Thompson were named to All-Region teams, and Angelo was the second All-American and second player selected in the Major League Baseball Draft in school history.

The Warriors open the 2010 season at Elizabeth City State on Saturday, February 6.
