PEORIA, Arizona - Former East Stroudsburg University All-American Mark Angelo made his professional baseball debut on Monday night, going 0-for-1 with three walks, and scored a run in a 9-2 win for the Seattle Mariners' affiliate in the Arizona Rookie League.

Angelo played left field and batted sixth as the Mariners beat the affiliate of the Texas Rangers. He drew a walk in his first plate appearance in the second inning and flew out to left field in the third. He walked and scored as part of a five-run fifth inning and also walked in his final plate appearance in the seventh. He made two putouts in left field, including the final out of the game.

Angelo was selected by the Mariners with the second pick in the 44th round of the MLB Draft on June 11. He was the second player to be drafted in ESU history and hit .421 with 12 home runs and 58 RBI in his only season with the Warriors. He was named to three All-Region teams and the ABCA All-America third team.
