EAST STROUDSBURG - Junior pitcher Jeremy Gigliotti has been named East Stroudsburg University's ABC Trophy, Inc. Athlete of the Week after throwing his first career shutout for the Warriors on Saturday against Millersville.

Gigliotti (Saylorsburg/Pleasant Valley) has gone three straight starts and 23 innings without allowing an earned run going back to the final inning of his start against West Chester on March 20.

Since then, the left-hander threw six shutout innings against Bloomsburg, held Shippensburg to one unearned run in nine innings and blanked Millersville over seven innings on Saturday. He has allowed just 10 hits in 22.0 innings in his last three starts with 19 strikeouts and just six walks.

Gigliotti has lowered his season ERA to 2.88, owns a 4-2 record and has 55 strikeouts in 50.0 innings this season. He leads the Warriors in starts (9), innings pitched, strikeouts and batting average against (.209), and is one of four pitchers to record four wins.

ESU won two of his three starts, 13-3 vs. Bloomsburg and 12-0 vs. Millersville, and lost 2-1 in 12 innings against Shippensburg. Gigliotti has extended his streak while pitching with the game tied or the Warriors trailing in 15 of his 23 innings, including 13 of the 16 innings he has thrown in the last two weeks.

He gave up five hits, one walk and struck out six against Millersville and didn't allow a runner to reach second base until the fourth inning. He faced just three batters with a runner in scoring position and the Warriors gave him a 2-0 lead in the fourth before blowing the game open with 10 runs in the sixth.

Gigliotti is approaching ESU's top 10 in both season and career strikeouts. He is three strikeouts away from entering the single season list, and eight from breaking into the career list, with 129 strikeouts in 126.2 innings in his three years at ESU.

He was the PSAC East Pitcher of the Week following his start against Bloomsburg and is one of five ESU players to be recognized by the PSAC this year, joining sophomore pitcher Tom Admire, senior outfielders Mike Bortz and Kevin Thompson, and senior third baseman Mark Angelo, the reigning PSAC East Player of the Week.
