ESU Closes Fall Schedule with Red and Black Series

EAST STROUSDBURG – East Stroudsburg University wrapped up its fall 2009 practice schedule last week with the Red and Black Series, with the Red team winning the series with a 2-1-1 record. The Warriors return 12 letterwinners for the 2010 season, including five regular position players and three of its top four finishers in innings pitched, from last year’s team that set the school record with 32 victories under second-year head coach John Kochmansky.

PEORIA, Ariz. - Former East Stroudsburg University All-American Mark Angelo went 1-for-3 with a double and scored a run as the Seattle Mariners' affiliate won the Arizona Rookie League championship with a 3-2 victory over the San Francisco Giants on Monday night.

Angelo Selected by Seattle Mariners in MLB First Year Player Draft

EAST STROUDSBURG - East Stroudsburg University's Mark Angelo was selected by the Seattle Mariners with the second pick of the 44th round (pick 1313) of the 2009 Major League Baseball First Year Player Draft on Thursday. Angelo is the second ESU player selected in the MLB Draft in school history.

EAST STROUDSBURG - Mark Angelo is the second East Stroudsburg University baseball player to be named an All-American in school history after earning third team honors from the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA).

EAST STROUDSBURG - East Stroudsburg University scored eight runs in the fifth inning to break a 4-4 tie and went on to a 12-7 win over Columbia Union in the second game of a non-conference baseball doubleheader on Sunday. The Pioneers outlasted the Warriors for a 4-3 (13 inning) victory in the opener.

HAMPTON, Va. - The East Stroudsburg University baseball program is off to a 4-1 start for the first time since the 1998 season after splitting a pair of games on Friday at the Builder Invitational hosted by the Apprentice School.

The Warriors beat Lock Haven 16-5 on Friday afternoon after dropping a 9-0 decision to Bloomsburg in the morning. ESU swept a three-game series at Virginia State last weekend for the program's first 3-0 start since 1979.
