WEST CHESTER - East Stroudsburg University tied the game with two runs with two outs in the top of the seventh inning, then matched zeroes with West Chester through the next six frames to end Saturday's PSAC East baseball doubleheader tied at 3-3 in a game that will be resumed on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. at ESU's Mitterling Field.

The Golden Rams (28-2, 5-0), ranked No. 5 in the ABCA Division II poll, won the first game 12-0 and led 3-1 entering the top of the seventh of the nighcap before the Warriors rallied to knot the score at 3-3.

Junior OF Kevin Thompson and junior C Brendan O'Connor both singled to put the tying run on base and junior 2B Chad Schlegel drove a base hit to right with two outs to bring Thompson home. Freshman Tom Admire, pinch running for O'Connor, scored the tying run on an error by WCU shortstop Nick Spisak.

Sophomore Steve Prazenka threw the first eight innings for ESU (11-17, 1-4) and retired nine of the final 11 batters he faced to hold West Chester scoreless after the fifth inning. He was replaced by sophomore Christian Saveri, who tossed five scoreless innings in relief.

Both teams had runners thrown out at the plate in the 11th. Freshman C Bryce Muth was thrown out trying to score on a sacrifice fly to center for the final out of the inning after banging a leadoff double.

West Chester put its first two batters on in the bottom half and Kevin McGrath attempted to score the winning run on a single by Brandon Wolfe to left field, but senior Kyle Sheaffer gunned McGrath out at the plate, with Muth applying the tag.

In the first game, senior Dave Boyer tied ESU's school record with his 35th career start but lasted only three innings as the Golden Rams scored multiple runs in four of the first five frames. Matt Cotellese was 4-for-5 at the plate to lead the attack.

The suspended game will resume in the top of the 14th inning at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, followed by the regularly scheduled doubleheader at Mitterling Field.
