EAST STROUDSBURG - Kristen Halvorsen, the Female Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year at East Stroudsburg University, has been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District II softball team, it was announced Thursday.

EAST STROUDSBURG - East Stroudsburg University junior outfielder Mike Bortz is a member of the All-PSAC East baseball first team after leading the Warriors in seven offensive categories, including home runs, RBI and runs, during the 2008 season.

Three Warriors Named to All-PSAC East Softball Squad
EAST STROUDSBURG - Junior catcher Amanda Feist was named to the first team and seniors Kristen Halvorsen and Candice Pastor were second team selections to give East Stroudsburg University three players on the All-PSAC East softball team, the conference announced Wednesday.

ESU Holds Groundbreaking for Turf Project at Whitenight Field
EAST STROUDSBURG - East Stroudsburg University coaches and administrators broke ground at Whitenight Field on Monday and excavation is scheduled to begin on Tuesday for the installation of field turf at the Warriors' field hockey and lacrosse field.

Gallup Reaches NCAA Automatic Standard, Warriors Crown Three Champions at PSAC Outdoor Meet
INDIANA - Senior Iuri Pinto defended his title in the 1500m and sophomores Matt Gallup (pole vault) and Drew Miller (triple jump) completed their sweep of the 2008 PSAC indoor and outdoor championships for East Stroudsburg University on the final day of the PSAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday at IUP.

Carito, Wagner Earn PSAC Track & Field Championships on Friday at IUP
INDIANA - Sophomore Trina Carito turned in a dominating performance to win the women's heptathlon and sophomore Paul Wagner broke the ESU and PSAC meet records in the men's hammer throw for the Warriors on Friday at the PSAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

EAST STROUDSBURG - Jacob DeBoer, East Stroudsburg University's career hits leader and a three-time All-PSAC East second baseman, has signed a contract to play for the River City Rascals in the Frontier League.

MANKATO, Minn. - Freshman high jumper Lynn Mayer and sophomore hurdler Rusty Smith both earned All-America honors for East Stroudsburg University at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday at Mankato State.

Two ESU Student-Athletes Recognized with Academic Momentum Awards
EAST STROUDSBURG - East Stroudsburg University student-athletes Chris Bach and Domineque Scott are recipients of the Academic Momentum Award, which is presented by the National Consortium for Academics and Sports (NCAS).
Scott, a senior field hockey player, is the female Academic Momentum Award winner representing the Mid-Atlantic Region. Bach is a junior on the men's basketball team and is the male runner-up in the region.

Sheska Selected as NSCAA/adidas Division II Northeast Region Coach of the Year
EAST STROUDSBURG - East Stroudsburg University men's soccer head coach Jerry Sheska has been named the NSCAA/adidas NCAA Division II Northeast Region Coach of the Year. The coach of the year honor is the 16th award that Sheska has earned in his 26-year career, and the third time he has been selected as the Northeast Region's top coach in the last six seasons.

ESU Community Mourns Loss of Jeff Dailey
The ESU athletic department joins the rest of the campus community in mourning the loss of Jeff Dailey, 22, of Easton, Pa. in a fire at his off-campus house on Thursday morning. Dailey transferred to ESU in January 2007 from Cabrini College and participated in workouts with the men's basketball program last spring, and was a close friend to many members of the team.

Staub, Berkowitz Take Home All-PSAC Hardware for ESU Women's Soccer
EAST STROUDSBURG - Senior back Brittany Staub was named the PSAC East Women's Soccer Athlete of the Year, and first-year head coach Rob Berkowitz earned Coach of the Year honors to lead a strong showing by East Stroudsburg University on the All-PSAC team released Wednesday.

ESU Launches Athletic Fields Turf Project for Eiler-Martin Stadium and Whitenight Field
EAST STROUDSBURG - East Stroudsburg University is launching the ESU Athletic Fields Turf Project, a fundraising campaign to install synthetic ("artificial") turf at Eiler-Martin Stadium and Whitenight Field, Director of Athletics Dr. Tom Gioglio has announced.
The installation of artificial turf at both venues is the next phase in the renovation of athletics facilities at ESU. In the last two years, an all-weather track and lights have been installed at Eiler-Martin Stadium.
