He made the All-PSAC football team as a center. He was chosen on the Associated Press All-America squad at linebacker. He was selected as the outstanding player on the 1960 squad. He was a freestyle sprinter and captain of the swimming team. He was head football coach at Middletown High School for 25 years and guided his teams to a 142-78-7 record.
