NCAA Division I fifth place finishers. John Eiler coached squad entered tourney with 10-1 record. Team beat Pittsburgh, 2-0, as Rich Flaherty scored both goals and John Petronis made 24 saves. The quarter-finals were played at Michigan State again and the Warriors forced the Spartans into double overtime before losing 2-1. Flaherty scored the goal and Petronis made 24 saves again.
