EAST STROUDSBURG - East Stroudsburg University will hold several events to “Think Pink” in the fight against breast cancer, beginning with the Warriors’ field hockey games this weekend.

The women's volleyball team will also participate later this month with their PINK event. All of the proceeds benefit the PA Breast Cancer Coalition, a local non-profit organization, with funds generated by the Warriors helping to support breast cancer survivors and their families in Pennsylvania.

The field hockey team will be donning pink jerseys for on Friday when they take on Bloomsburg at 4 p.m. and Sunday when they host Slippery Rock at 12 p.m. The Warriors will also be wearing pink wristbands and socks during the game that have been donated by Schuylkill Valley Sports. Think Pink t-shirts will be available for purchase at the contest to benefit the cause.

The funds obtained at the field hockey games will culminate in a check presentation to Dolly Woody, the Executive Director of the Northeast Pennsylvania affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

The Warriors’ women’s volleyball team will also be wearing pink warm-up shirts, ribbons and socks for their matches on October 30 and 31 at Koehler Fieldhouse. ESU takes on Shippensburg on Friday, Oct. 30 at 7 p.m. and Millersville on Saturday, Oct. 31 at 2 p.m.

There will be a recognition table located inside the fieldhouse for those who have been affected by breast cancer and pink t-shirts will also be sold at the site. The event is being sponsored by the Pink Ribbon Boutique, a local organization in East Stroudsburg, and owner Lynn Harrison, who has been supportive of the team and their fundraising efforts. The Pink Ribbon Boutique is located in the Pocono Bazaar & Flea Market Building A.

The Warriors’ players are seeking donations for a flat amount or by purchasing tee-shirts to benefit the PA Breast Cancer Coalition. More information on the PINK event can be obtained by contacting ESU assistant coach Shannon Fisher at (570) 422-3672 or sfisher@po-box.esu.edu.
