EAST STROUDSBURG - Senior basketball player Chris Bach and junior track and field athlete Janelle Smith are among 27 East Stroudsburg University students who have been selected as outstanding leaders and included in "Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges" in 2008.
Bach (Levittown/Harry S Truman), a Sport Management major, was a preseason All-PSAC East selection for the Warriors this season and has received numerous accolades during his career at ESU. He was named to the PSAC Winter Top 10 list and was the only PSAC men's basketball player on the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District II team last year, and is also the president of ESU's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
Smith (Auburn/Schuylkill Valley) was named to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Division II All-Academic Team last summer. A Speech Pathology major, Smith competed in the NCAA championships in the indoor and outdoor high jump last season.
For 75 years, the "Who's Who" volumes have honored outstanding campus leaders for their scholastic, leadership and community achievements.
The campus nominating committee and the editors of the annual "Who's Who" directory have recognized these students based on their academic achievement, service to the community, leadership in extracurricular activities and potential for continued success. They join students selected from more than 2,300 institutions of higher learning in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and foreign countries.
