EAST STROUDSBURG - East Stroudsburg University had 52 student-athletes receive Academic Achievement Awards from the Division II Athletic Directors Association, it was announced late Thursday.
Student-athletes must have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.5 through at least four semesters of college work while competing in an intercollegiate sport to be eligible for recognition. The Warriors had 44 student-athletes honored a year ago.
ESU has led the PSAC with 10 student-athletes named to their respective ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District teams in each of the last two years and had a conference-best five student-athletes named to the PSAC's seasonal "Top 10" lists in 2008-09.
Jackie Yandrisevits (women's basketball), Kristen Morby and Paul Wagner (track & field), Bill Hezel (baseball) and Chris Bach (men's basketball) were all PSAC "Top 10" recipients. They were joined on the Academic All-District teams by Kailyn Buckley and Lynda Hicks (women's soccer), Danny Drago and Toric Robinson (men's soccer) and Matt Freed (football).
