EAST STROUDSBURG - Chuck Seese, the radio voice of the East Stroudsburg University football program for the past 20 years, received the George Heaslip Media Award from the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) at the conference's football media day on Monday at Kutztown.
Seese was recognized as the 21st recipient of the Heaslip Award, which is presented annually to a member of the media for outstanding coverage of the PSAC and its institutions.
An award-winning local broadcaster, Seese has been a tireless promoter of East Stroudsburg University for nearly three decades since his time as a student, when he worked for the campus radio station.
He is in his 25th year at WVPO/WSBG in Stroudsburg, which will broadcast Warriors football for the 47th consecutive season in 2009. He is also the Public Address Announcer for the Warriors men's basketball team and has served as Master of Ceremonies for pep rallies, Midnight Madness and many other events on campus.
Seese has broadcast postseason football games in 1991, 2004 and 2005, when the Warriors won the Northeast Region championship and advanced to the national semifinals. He has also witnessed PSAC East titles in 1991, 2002 and 2003 and called record-setting performances by quarterbacks Damian Poalucci and Jimmy Terwilliger, wide receiver Evan Prall and running back Anthony Carfagno during his time with the Warriors.
The 2009 season will be Seese's 21st year behind the mic as the Warriors' play-by-play man and the ninth with color commentator Bob Brittain. ESU opens the season in Richmond, Va. at Virginia Union on Thursday, August 27.
