EAST STROUDSBURG - East Stroudsburg University assistant football coach Kenny Stills has been named the Department of Athletics Liaison for Diversity and Social Justice Education.
"We want to recruit more broadly and expand the diversity in our athletic and academic programs. I am looking forward to having this position help us in building a more inclusive university," said Dr. Robert J. Dillman, President of East Stroudsburg University.
"Kenny will assist with the development and implementation of all aspects of the Department of Athletics Diversity Plan. He also will help with recruitment initiatives and strategies to identify, attract and support diverse student-athletes and coaches," said Dr. Tom Gioglio, Director of Athletics.
In his position, Stills will also assist with oversight of activities conducted by the department's Diversity Recruiting Coordinators, and with the implementation of a Student Athlete Ambassador Program to provide recruiting, mentoring and support services for diverse student-athletes in the areas of academic and social adjustment.
He will be involved in the implementation of the department's annual diversity training and education for staff and student-athletes, and will also collaborate with the Academic Coordinator to assure full use of tutorial and other academic support services.
Stills is in his second year on the Warriors' football coaching staff after coming to ESU prior to the 2006 season. A former NFL defensive back with the Green Bay Packers and the Minnesota Vikings, Stills also coached for five years in NFL Europe. He was a three-year starter at cornerback at the University of Wisconsin before graduating in 1985.
