EAST STROUDSBURG - East Stroudsburg University senior wrestler Sean Carr and junior tennis player Julian Taibi have both earned a place on the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District II Men's At-Large second team, which was announced Thursday.

Carr and Taibi are the only two PSAC student-athletes on the men's squad, while Kutztown field hockey player Kelley Healey was named to the women's team.

ESU leads the PSAC with eight student-athletes recognized on the Academic All-District II team this year. The college division of District II covers all Division II and III institutions in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware, Washington, D.C. and West Virginia.

Carr (Whitehall/Whitehall), who was named ESU's Male Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year earlier this month, has a 3.91 grade-point average in Health and Physical Education Teaching Certification. He had a 39-23 career record as a two-year letterwinner for the Warriors after transferring from the University of Maryland.

Carr was 23-11 at 141 pounds as a senior, including an 11-6 record in dual matches. He was named to the All-PSAC team after placing third at the conference championship, and was in the top eight at the 2008 EIWA Championships. His dual season included a 7-4 win over Army's Matt Kyler, who won the EIWA title at 141 pounds.

Taibi (Lehighton/Lehighton) has maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA in English and Secondary Education while holding a spot as a starter on the Warriors' tennis team. He had an 11-9 record in singles last season, playing the majority of his matches at No. 5, and was 7-13 in doubles.

Taibi and junior Rob Mikolon were 6-10 at No. 2 doubles, including a 9-7 win against Millersville as ESU placed third in the PSAC. Taibi also had a three-set singles win in the 5-3 victory over the Marauders.

Sam Shuman (football), Danny Drago (men's soccer), Chris Bach (men's basketball), Monika Fogelsanger and Jackie Yandrisevits (women's basketball) and Kristen Halvorsen (softball) have also been Academic All-District selections for the Warriors this year.

The final Academic All-District team for track and field and cross country is scheduled to be released on June 5.
