PSAC Release

EAST STROUDSBURG - Strong finishes from the men's and women's basketball and indoor track & field programs helped East Stroudsburg University maintain its position in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference's Dixon Trophy standings, which were released Thursday.

Both basketball programs qualified for the PSAC tournament this year as ESU joined California as the only schools in the conference to send both teams to the playoffs in each of the last three seasons.

The men's track & field team finished third and the women were fifth in the PSAC championships held on March 1-2 at Koehler Fieldhouse.

ESU is ninth overall with 90.5 points and third among PSAC East schools, trailing only conference leader West Chester (108) and Kutztown (91.5). ESU was eighth overall and third in the East in the fall sports standings.

Each institution's top 12 finishes (six men's, six women's) are used in the calculations for the Dixon Trophy, which is awarded to the top athletic program in the conference.

ESU was seventh in the final 2006-07 standings, its highest finish since ranking fourth in the inaugural Dixon Trophy race in 1995-96.
