Leadership: Looking for dedicated individuals who are cheer "leaders", who can promote school spirit with pride and enthusiasm. Obligations: Academics are very important at ESU. Maintaining specific gradepoint averages according to major is required. Cheer participation is limited to an average of 8-10 hours per week as well as 2 seasons from late August to late March. Participation includes morning practices, multiple events, fundraisers, and games. DVD and video tryout candidates will be notified within 24 hours after tryout date. The team will then be posted on the ESU website. Tryout Skills JUMPS: 1. Toe Touch *Up (high V) - 1, 2 *Swing - 3, 4 *T for arms/legs in toe touch position-- 5, 6 *Land - 7, 8 (Stay down until 1, 2 to pop back up on high V) 2. Double Toe Touch *Follow same format but counts 4, 6 will be when arms are in "T" and legs in toe touch position. TUMBLING: 1. Most difficult skill- no spot 2. Combination skill STUNTING: 1. Walk-in aerobesque, cradle, reload to another stunt. 2. Toss to lib, power press down back up to a heel stretch. SAFETY FIRST! DO NOT perform something above your skill level! Make it clean! CHEER/DANCE: You are to choreograph your own crowd leading routine. You may perform your routine with a partner. 1. Routine time minimum of 45 seconds to maximum 60 seconds. 2. Include one sideline, one cheer with toe touch or double toe touch, tumbling and a dance segment.(Dance no more than 20 seconds.) 3. Props may be used: poms, megs, signs TRYOUT DAY:
1. Attire will be white t shirt, black shorts, white socks, cheer sneakers, hair in a ponytail, no jewelry, minimal make-up. Make sure number is visible at all times.
2. Tryout with 4 other candidates. Will stunt with this group on tryout day.
3. Alternates will be taken.
