Cheerleading Tryout Information for 2008-09 Squad

Pre-screenings, physicals and tryouts for freshmen and fall transfer students who would like to be a part of next year's squad will be held in August. Please check back throughout the summer for more information.

Laura DeFalco is in her first year as the cheerleading coach at East Stroudsburg University.

A 1999 graduate of ESU with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education, DeFalco is a second grade teacher in the Stroudsburg Area School District. She has been a teacher since her graduation from ESU and holds an associates degree in Early Childhood Education and a Master's degree in Reading.

DeFalco has worked with the Stroudsburg High School cheerleaders for the last six years. She was the junior varsity coach the first two years, and has been the head coach in the program for the last four years working with cheerleaders from 6th through 12th grades.

She is certified by both the AACCA (American Association of Cheerleading Coaches and Advisors) and the NCSSE (National Council Spirit Safety and Education).

"Cheerleading has been a passion of mine for as long as I can remember," DeFalco said. "I feel fortunate to be a part of the ESU cheerleading program and am very excited to work with the college athletes. I look forward to a very successful year."

"We are very excited to have Laura working with our cheerleaders," Director of Athletics Tom Gioglio said. "She will bring a great level ofexperience and enthusiasm to help our cheerleaders energize our fans and our teams. She will be a great asset for the Warriors' athletic programs."

DeFalco and her husband Ryan reside in Stroudsburg with their children Zachary (2 1/2) and Vanessa (1).
