EAST STROUDSBURG - Junior Tara Takac of the women's soccer team has been named the ABC Trophy, Inc. Athlete of the Week at East Stroudsburg University for her performance in the Warriors' 4-3 win over Lock Haven on Saturday.

Takac (South River, N.J./South River) scored the game-winning goal 3:30 into the second overtime to give ESU a non-conference win over the Bald Eagles. She also opened the scoring in the 12th minute for the Warriors, who are ranked No. 10 in the Northeast Region for the second consecutive week.

Takac has scored four goals this season and shares the team lead with classmates Janel Cleffi and Lynda Hicks. The overtime goal against Lock Haven was her second game-winning goal of the year for the Warriors. She also scored two goals and was credited with the game-winner in a 6-0 win over Clarion.

Each week ABC Trophy, Inc., of Stroudsburg awards an ESU Athlete of the Week. The selection is announced Tuesday and each student receives a red and silver plaque.
