EAST STROUDSBURG - Senior Sean Carr has been named the ABC Trophy, Inc. Athlete of the Week after posting a 4-1 record for the ESU wrestling team last week.

Carr (Whitehall/Whitehall) placed third at 141 pounds at the PSAC Championships on Saturday at Clarion and beat Matt Kyler, the No. 1-ranked wrestler at 141 in the EIWA, in the Warriors' dual against Army on Wednesday.

Carr entered the PSAC Championships as the No. 5 seed and knocked off two wrestlers seeded above him to finish third. He beat No. 4 George Hickman of Bloomsburg by a 4-3 decision in the first round, and then took a 6-4 decision over No. 2 Torsten Gillespie of Edinboro in the consolation final.

He started the week with a 7-4 decision over Kyler, who came into the dual with an 18-4 overall record and a second-place finish at the Penn State Open.

Carr has an 8-2 record and is ranked fifth in the EIWA this week. The Warriors will return to action at the Lock Haven Duals on Sunday.
