EAST STROUDSBURG - Senior pitcher Kristen Halvorsen has been named the ABC Trophy, Inc. Athlete of the Week at East Stroudsburg University after posting a 3-2 record with a one-hit shutout in five starts for the Warriors' softball team last week.

Halvorsen (Cornwall, N.Y./Cornwall Central) went eight innings to help ESU beat Bloomsburg 2-1 and won both ends of a doubleheader against West Chester. She had a 3.08 ERA for the week while throwing 25.0 innings.

She retired 15 straight batters during a 2-0 shutout in the first game against the Golden Rams and gave up just one hit in the game, a single to lead off the second inning. The shutout was her second of the season and the 13th of her career at ESU.

Halvorsen has had one of the top pitching careers in ESU history, holding school records for games (114), starts (96) and innings pitched (569.1) during her four years. She ranks second with 39 wins and third with 361 strikeouts.

This season, Halvorsen has a 2.30 ERA and an 11-15 record in 26 starts. She has 85 strikeouts and just 30 walks in 158.1 innings, and has started nine of the Warriors' last 10 games down the stretch during her senior year.

ESU hosts Mansfield in its final home doubleheader of the season on Friday at 2:30 p.m. at Zimbar Field.
