STATUS CHECK: Looking for the status check? We're sorry to report the link is currently under construction. Please check back in late November or early December.

  • At the time of application review, the Office of Admission will review transcripts of all completed coursework with final grades for transfer credit. Credits previously evaluated and deemed transferrable are applied to the student Initial Transfer Credit Evaluation ‘TCE'. The Initial ‘TCE' is then mailed to the applicant with the offer of admission or shortly thereafter (prior to registration).
  • Credit that has not been previously evaluated will be reviewed by the Transfer Evaluation Specialist/Registrars Office. Upon review, the Evaluator will determine any additional transfer credit, update the student record and send an updated Final ‘TCE' to the applicant. The Final ‘TCE' will indicate any additional transfer credit awarded to the applicant.

Students may transfer credits from institutions accredited by:

  • Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools
  • New England Association of Schools and Colleges
  • North Central Association of Colleges and Schools
  • Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges
  • Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, Inc.
  • Western Association of Schools and Colleges
  • Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges
  • Accrediting Commission for Senior Colleges and Universities

Credits from either non-accredited institutions or institutions not accredited by the above will need to be approved by the relevant ESU academic department and the academic dean.

Credits from Non-US institutions: Applicants must have their credits evaluated by a professional credential evaluation service. You can download a WES application at http://www.wes.org.

AP or CLEP Credits will not be taken from college transcripts; an official College Board score report must be sent directly to the Center for Enrollment Services at ESU.

Acceptable Grades: Only credits for courses with a grade of "C-" or better will be consider for transfer credit.

Non-Transferable Credits: Developmental (remedial) courses and those of a specific vocational, technical, occupational, office administrative, or theological nature are not considered transferable.

Transferring with Academic Passport: If you are a student at a PA Community College, Lackawanna College or one of the State System Universities (PASSHE) and are ready to transfer, Academic Passport is your guaranteed admission to East Stroudsburg University. To qualify you must have an Associate of Arts (A.A.) or the Associate of Science (A.S.) degree from a community college in PA or Lackawanna College or at least 12 credits at one of the State System Universities (PASSHE). All students must have a minimum 2.00 grade point average.

Students holding the Academic Passport from Pennsylvania community colleges, Lackawanna College or other State System universities (PASSHE) will transfer credit according to the Board of Governors Policy titled The Academic Passport and Student Transfer Policy. For more information see the Academic Passport home page.

Final Transfer of Credits: Transferable credits are officially added to a student's ESU record upon receipt of the official final college transcript and upon verification of enrollment (completed course registration).

Transfer Credit Limits: Final approval of courses counting toward your major rests with the chairperson of that department. Some departments have limits on the total number of credits that can be applied to the major field of study. Currently, these include:
