| The dropdown box "Find Your Institution" identifies community colleges, colleges, and universities from which ESU has identified transfer course equivalencies.
The equivalencies listed are the most current articulations established to date, are evaluated on an on-going basis and are subject to change.
The Transfer Course Equivalency Guide should be used for reference only.
Please use the links below to help answer common questions pertaining to the
Transfer Course Equivalency Guide and the transfer process at ESU.
How to Read the Transfer Equivalency Page:
- Course Number from Sending Institution.
- Course Title
- If there is an exact course match, the title will reflect the ESU course.
- If there is no exact match, but the course transfers as an elective, the original course title will be retained.
- Credit hours awarded in transfer.
- ESU Course Number.
- With an exact match, the course number will be the ESU equivalent.
- 199: General Education Elective [no exact match], but suitable for General Education requirments in specified ESU department.
- 299; 399; 499: Departmental Elective [no exact match], ESU Academic Department decides if/how the course is applied towards the major.
- "ELEC 299": Course that does not fit either General Education or major requirements, but credits will transfer as electives.
- Transfers: YES = credits transfer; No = credits do not transfer
Courses Not Listed in the Database:
If you cannot find your course, this simply means that the course has not been evaluated to date, but still may be transferable.
In this situation, your course will be evaluated at the time of application, provided that the Office of Admission has received an official transcript from the institution where the course(s) in question where taken.
The Office of Admission will consider the course(s) for transfer and determine if transfer course equivalency is warranted.
You will then be notified of the equivalency via your Transfer Credit Evaluation which will accompany your admission decision letter.
How are Courses evaluated for Transfer:
An official transfer credit evaluation is established through the Office of Admission.
Applicants who are offered admission will receive a Transfer Credit Evaluation "TCE" with their offer of admission.
The "TCE" will indicate what course(s) the University will accept in transfer and the course(s) equivalent at ESU.
The Office of Admission will first determine if the course warrants transfer credit.
If the course in question requires a more in-depth review, the respective academic department will be asked to provide a transfer course equivalency decision.
Ok, my course transfers, but how does it apply towards my degree at ESU?
The academic department advisor of your intended major will determine how credit(s) apply towards a degree program at ESU. Upon acceptance to the university, you will receive a Transfer Credit Evaluation [TCE].
The "TCE" will indicate all coursework that is transferable to ESU and will also indicate the transfer equivalent at ESU.
After you submit your registration deposit indicating your intention to enroll at ESU for the semester in question, the "TCE" ismade availableto your academic advisor.
Your academic advisor will use this "TCE" information during academic advising and registration.
Courses that do not Transfer:
The University does not accept the following course/credits in transfer:
Developmental [remedial] courses and those of a specific vocational, technical, occupational, office administrative, or theological nature, are not considered transferable.
