STATUS CHECK: Looking for the status check? We're sorry to report the link is currently under construction. Please check back in late November or early December.

The Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE) makes it easy for students to transfer from PA community colleges, Lackawanna College, and between PASSHE universities, including ESU.

Pennsylvania Community College and Lackawanna College students

  • You have an Academic Passport and are guaranteed admission to ESU if you:
  • Have earned an Associate of Arts (A.A.) or the Associate of Science (A.S.) degree in a transfer program containing a minimum of 30 credits of liberal arts.
  • Have a minimum QPA of 2.00 on a 4.00 scale.

Other PA State System students

  • You have an Academic Passport to transfer credits to ESU if you:
  • Are a student at any of the other PA State System of Higher Education universities
  • Have at least 12 transferable credits, and
  • Have a minimum QPA of 2.00 on a 4.00 scale.

Please note:

  • The program does not guarantee admission to academic programs that have additional admission requirements.
  • Credits earned at PA community colleges, Lackawanna College, or at another PASSHE school will be accepted and applied toward completion of the baccalaureate degree requirements.
  • The University does not accept the following course/credits in transfer: Developmental [remedial] courses and those of a specific vocational, technical, occupational, office administrative, or theological nature are not considered transferable.
  • Transfer students shall not be required to repeat courses that they have already successfully completed at another school.
How credits will be applied
  • ESU will apply as many credits as possible (up to 45) toward satisfying lower-division General Education requirements.
  • This applies even if ESU does not offer that specific course or has not designated it as General Education. (A course by course match is not required).
  • Other credits may be applied toward the major, and any remaining credits will apply as satisfying electives.
  • "D" grades will transfer only if the overall QPA is 2.0 or better from each institution attended.
  • Students must have a minimum 2.0 QPA in all course work presented for transfer from each institution attended.
  • A Transfer Credit Evaluation shall be sent to each student prior to enrollment.
