If you previously attended ESU in an undergraduate degree program and withdrew in good academic, social and financial standing simply complete and submit the Application for Re-Admission. You are eligible for re-admission. In some cases, however, we may not be able to offer you re-admission to the program in which you were previously enrolled. This may occur if you do not meet the requirements for retention in the program (for example, all teacher certification programs require at least a 2.5 cumulative grade point average; some higher) or if that program has reached enrollment capacity at the time your application is reviewed. In those cases in which you are eligible for re-admission to the University but not to the program of your choice, you will be re-admitted either as an "undeclared" major. You will be notified by mail regarding registration procedures.
If you previously attended ESU and were placed on Academic Suspension you must complete and submit the Application for Re-Admission. One calendar year must elapse from the time you were placed on Academic Suspension before you are eligible for re-admission. Once you have completed the one year suspension, you will be re-admitted on Academic Probation. You will be notified by mail regarding registration procedures.
If you previously attended ESU and were placed on Academic Dismissal you must complete and submit the Application for Re-Admission and attach a letter of appeal addressed Chair, Admission Appeals Committee. This letter must include your assessment of why you were unsuccessful in previous academic experiences and why you feel that future academic endeavors will be successful. The Admission Appeals Committee will review the letter and your academic record and either uphold the dismissal, approve re-admission, or request an interview with you in order to gain further information on which to base a decision. The decision of that committee is final. You will be notified by mail of the committee's decision. Successful candidates will be sent instructions for registration.
If you have been placed on suspension for other than academic reasons, that suspension must be lifted before any action can be taken on your application for re-admission. Contact the Office of the Vice-President for Student Affairs for information on the status of any suspension. That office is located in Room 115, Reibman Administration Building; (570) 422-3463.
If you owe money to any University office, including (but not limited to) the library, athletics office, financial aid office, or student accounts office, you must settle all accounts before any action can be taken on your application for re-admission. All accounts can be paid at the Business Office located in the Center for Enrollment Services located in Zimbar-Lijenstein Hall; (570) 422-2800.
