The ESU Council of Trustees approved the new College of Business and Management as of January 1, 2007. Dr. Robert J. Dillman, President of ESU and Dr. Judy G. Hample, chancellor of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education have determined accreditations as the primary initiatives for the new college.
The new College of Business and Management consists of five departments: Business Management, Sports Management, Recreation and Leisure Services Management, Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management and Leadership Studies and Military Science. The combined enrollment in these departments is approximately 1,200.
The Business Management program will apply to the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), the premier international accrediting agency for business schools. Founded in 1916, it is the largest global accrediting body for schools that offer undergraduate, masters and doctoral degrees in business and accounting.
The Recreation and Leisure Services Management program is already accredited by the National Recreation and Park Association. The Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management program recently received its initial seven year accreditation from the Accreditation Commission for Programs in Hospitality Administration. The Sport Management program will apply to the Commission on Sport Management Accreditation for accreditation.
